Celebrate Animals on St. Francis Day!

Many people commemorate St. Francis of Assisi on October 4. St. Francis was an Italian Friar, born in 1226 CE, who took a vow of poverty and cared for the poor. He preached that it is our duty to protect and enjoy nature and all its creatures. This day is a time to remember how creatures of all sizes, shapes, and species bless our lives and are essential to the environment that sustains us. It’s a time to remember to care for their wellbeing, whether they be pets, service animals, wild animals, or even bugs. Whether they fly, crawl, run, or swim.

Join Pastor Richard Freudenberger as he celebrates the legacy of St. Francis by passing along the blessing of animals. He will be set up outside of the Catfe and taking walk-ups. Stop by with your dog, cat, pig, iguana, fish, or whatever other animal you call your companion so that they can receive the blessing. Just be sure that your animal is properly leashed/contained.

This is FREE and open to anyone! If you would like to order something from the Catfe during your visit or to take to go, you can order online and we will bring it out to you so you can stay with your animal friend!
