We're planning a major installation for Art in the City, and we need your help! This immersive and interactive artwork is going to require more than 1000 folded paper gems, in pyramid and diamond shapes. Can you help us make it happen?
Drop in anytime between 10am-2pm and learn how to fold an origami gem, then make a few to contribute to the project. Then swing by on Friday August 2 to see all your gems come together as one!
We'll have paper and step-by-step instructions ready for you at this prep day. All ages welcome!
Installation description: A RIVER OF GEMS
Explore into, under, and around a river of geometric paper gems folded from recycled paper and shimmering mylar, suspended from the gallery ceiling. Unwind and relax while the shapes rustle and move along your path. Sit down and look up for a fresh point of view. Take a selfie and become a part of the art, because in Dayton, we’re all gems.
Thanks to the Gem City Catfé for hosting this community origami day and providing exhibit space for our installation during Art in the City.
